The theory training will take place in Exeter between the 4th April and the 8th April with the exact dates of the practical training at Belfast Airport yet to be agreed.
Training programmes similar to AMO4/11 are also taking place at Exeter and Belfast Airport in February and March with more dates likely to be scheduled at Belfast Airport later in the year.
A Met Office Observer Competency Assessment Programme is available to download from the Met Office’s official website.
The training is for the Met Office’s ATS and aeronautical meteorological staff and is not available to the general public. If you have the right qualifications, contact the Met Office to book directly onto the course. Numbers are strictly limited.
The aim of the training course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills that is needed to make reliable aviation weather reports. All training conforms to guidelines set by the World Meteorological Organization.
The cost of the training programme which includes theory training in Exeter and practical training at Belfast Airport is £2,200 plus VAT.
For those travelling from further afield, a stay in one of the many Belfast Airport hotels can provide the place to relax before and after the event.
