Virtigo Launches Cloud-based Desktop Service for Business

Virtigo, the virtualisation specialist, has announced its new cloud-based desktop service, SurrogatePC, which gives users flexible, secure access to their core business applications, files and data from virtually any web-enabled device including Windows PC’s, Apple Mac’s and Java enabled devices.

Virtigo’s SurrogatePC gives businesses a secure pay-as-you-go computing solution that is accessible from anywhere with an Internet connection. Costing £40 per user, per month, SurrogatePC gives users MS Office 2007 applications, built-in anti-virus, and secure data backup and storage. Users can transfer files freely between SurrogatePC and other PCs, with secure shared data areas enabling collaboration with colleagues.

SurrogatePC is claimed to provide all of the benefits of a PC for each employee in a company, but without the costs of internal IT management or purchasing expensive new PCs, software or IT support.

It enables businesses to scale their IT up or down according to need, and pay only for the IT they use. Data is hosted securely in Virtigo’s datacentres, and users log in via SSL encrypted connections to add further protection for data.
