Supported by Renaissance Learning, the National Conference on Accelerating Learning addresses the key issues of literacy and numeracy in UK schools - and this years sees the official launch of the "What Kids Are Reading" report.
[UKPRwire, Thu Sep 25 2008] Since its foundation in 2007, the National Conference on Accelerating Learning, supported by Renaissance Learning, provides a focal point for everyone with a keen interest in promoting literacy and numeracy in UK schools. From teaching professionals to Bursars, Librarians and ICT Coordinators - this two-day event at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Stansted, offers something for everyone from Thursday 9th October 2008.
In addition to a series of seminars from keynote speacker, such as Theresa Breslin, Carnegie Medal winning writer and G.P. Taylor of 'Shadowmancer' fame - Jonathan Douglas, Director of the National Literacy Trust, will be launching the "What Kids Are Reading" report on the second day of the event.
Using Renaissance Learning's Accelerated Reader(1) (AR) program, the reading habits of over 29,000 Year 3-11 pupils have been analysed. The report also examines the reading differences between year groups and gender, and has produced some interesting and surprising results.
