DirectRooms.com – Bollywood comes to Southampton on 21 May 2011
DirectRooms.com reveals that Southampton will be the stage for a Bollywood style movie inspired by the lives of Asian residents and different wedding cultures
[UKPRwire, Thu Apr 14 2011] The movie project will be a mix of a film combined with a live performance to ensure audiences can get a real feel for the passion and energy of Bollywood. The production is named Bollywood Baraat, as baraat is the name of a traditional Indian wedding procession.
To come create the storyline the organisers spoke with many people to get real life wedding experiences and the opinions of British Asians living in Southampton from local community groups, universities and schools.
The film’s plot then takes these memories and has combined them with a Bollywood script to create a classic tale of love found and then lost. To give audiences a sneak peek the first act begins with the main couple meeting and falling in love which leads to the wedding announcement. In the true essence of Bollywood a colourful and boisterous dance then ensues featuring plenty of joyous singing about love.
Anyone staying at a Southampton hotel can then see the main baraat which sees the performers dance their way through Southampton’s parks in a lively procession before news spreads that the wedding is being called to a halt.
The performance and screening is due to be held in the city’s centre on 21st May 2011.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: “Such a unique event is set to draw many new visitors to Southampton and this will have an affect on hotels with many places set to be fully occupied.”
