Supermodel Naomi Plans Own Model Reality Show
It has been revealed that British supermodel Naomi Campbell is in talks to host a new model reality television programme – a direct competitor to Tyra Banks’ America’s Next Top Model.
[UKPRwire, Sat Dec 19 2009] It has been revealed that British supermodel Naomi Campbell is in talks to host a new model reality television programme – a direct competitor to Tyra Banks’ America’s Next Top Model.
This venture could reignite a fifteen-year feud between the two models that was brought to an end a few years ago when Naomi appeared on The Tyra Banks Show. Tyra had accused Naomi of having her kicked off a photoshoot, an allegation for which the model subsequently apologised.
In the summer it was rumoured that business mogul Sir Philip Green and X-Factor judge Simon Cowell will be teaming up to create a new fashion/modelling reality show. Could this be what Naomi is considering?
Naomi Campbell will have a long way to go if she wants to match Tyra Banks’ success with this project, after all, America’s Next Top Model has just finished its 13th series. Tyra also has her own hugely successful talk show and is also a television producer and photographer.
Fans are eagerly waiting to hear whether these rumours of the reality show are true. There are probably quite a few non-fans on that list too, since Naomi’s temper (the cause of her losing no fewer than six personal assistants) could definitely make for some entertaining viewing!
“Naomi is famous for her spats with staff, so the idea is to try to have some fun and capitalize on the situation,” one source has reportedly said. “Plus, it’s TV work, which Naomi hopes will lead to acting jobs.”
In other Naomi news, the model has been nominated by prime minister’s wife Sarah Brown as her 21st Century Heroine for Harpers Bazaar. “The Naomi Campbell I had heard about was beautiful, successful, always late, a bit frightening, even a bit out of control,” Sarah Brown wrote in the magazine on her apprehension of meeting Naomi for the first time. “[The] Naomi Campbell I met [was] certainly beautiful, but also sincere, direct, and impatient in a good way.”
The unlikely duo have worked together on a number of projects for the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood charity, of which Sarah Brown is a patron. It was for the work for women’s and children’s charities that Sarah Brown nominated her as her 21st Century Heroine.
“The Naomi Campbell I know has proven herself a loyal friend and a woman of her word,” Sarah continued in Harpers Bazaar. “She is a fearless challenger of the established position if she sees the need for change, whether in her call for greater diversity in the media, or the demand for greater focus in international development on women’s health and rights. She is generous, authentic and hardworking.”
