William Hill player takes down iPops Main Event in Barcelona

American professional poker player Jesse Rockowitz has won the 2012 iPops Main Event, taking home the $100,000 1st place prize. The iPops Main Event, held this year in Barcelona, was a continuation of the $500,000 Guaranteed iPops Event #5 which began play online on May 6th. Once the online tournament was down to 27 players, play was halted and players were flown to Barcelona to the incredible Gran Casino to play the final live.

William Hill Poker players dominated the event, boasting 9/27 finalists. However the action was thick and fast and by the time play got down to the final table only two William Hill players remained – Jesse Rockowitz and Willem Müller-Hofstede. Professional poker player Rockowitz was by far the most prominent player left, with a WSOP Bracelet and over $1 million in live tournament winnings to his name. His experience shone through and he held his nerve to be the last man standing, adding the iPops title to his belt. Müller-Hofstede was knocked out in fourth place taking home almost $30,000 for his efforts.

The 2012 iPops was deemed to be a massive success with many players complimenting the hotel, food and tournament organisation. The event was streamed LIVE on William Hill’s website with many poker aficionados from around the globe tuning in to watch the tense final table.

The final hand was an interesting one with Rockowitz’s pocket threes holding up against his opponent’s pocket twos to take the title. Jesse will add the $100,000 to his bankroll as he heads from Barcelona to Vegas for the 2012 World Series of Poker, where he’ll be hoping to keep his good run going and take down another event.
