Cookie Introduces Off-Sales Wine List

Cookie, the award-winning eatery in Glasgow’s southside, has introduced an off-sales wine list that seeks to offer customers a distinctive selection of reasonably priced wines not readily available elsewhere in the southside – or indeed the UK.

Cookie co-owner, Domenico Del Priore, said, "The southside has long been lacking a decent alternative to Oddbins – until now.

"With customer feedback revealing a growing demand south of the Clyde for an off-sales offering a different range of quality wines than that available elsewhere, we decided to introduce a range of Old World wines, the vast majority of which are priced at less than £10, to cater for that demand."

Cookie is the sole importer in the UK for many of the wines on its list.

Mr Del Priore said, "Each wine has a story behind it and we are offering customers an opportunity to taste the wines prior to purchase and help guide them in their choice. For example, our Gruner Veltliner, a lemon melon with a mineral touch on the tongue, is ideal as a summer wine. And as many of our wines are only available at Cookie, they make for a perfect dinner party gift!"

Cookie’s off-sales wine list ranges from a GPG Garganega/Pinot Grigio from Italy at £6.40 to a Prazo di Roriz from Portugal at £11.60, all sourced from small-scale producers and each distinctive to its region – and it is offering a discount on wine bought by the case.

Meanwhile the restaurant’s own popular house red – a Sangiovese produced by a friend, Alessandro, from Giove in Umbria – will soon be available under the Cookie brand at selected outlets throughout Scotland.

Cookie is based at 72 Nithsdale Road, Pollokshields, Glasgow. For further information about Cookie log on to www.cookiescotland.com
