CROSBY LEND LEASE CELEBRATE TEN YEARS OF BUILDING IN MANCHESTER

Award winning developer Crosby Lend Lease is celebrating its 10th anniversary of building luxury apartments in Manchester City Centre.

[UKPRwire, Thu Oct 02 2008] It’s been 10 years since the renowned house builder first began developing in Manchester and in that time Crosby Lend Lease has invested around £360 million in building landmark developments that have paved the way for Manchester’s urban renaissance.

Since 1998, Crosby Lend Lease has developed some of Manchester’s most exclusive city centre apartment buildings, such as Deansgate Quay, No.1 Deansgate, The Hacienda, Rossetti Place, Bauhaus, Design House and most recently greenquarter and Potato Wharf.

Peter Vella, Sales and Marketing Director for Crosby Lend Lease comments:

“These buildings have helped define the face of Manchester today as a world class urban centre, attracting millions of pounds in investment and creating a vibrant city that the people of Manchester can be proud of.’

‘Crosby Lend Lease has contributed significantly to the changing skyline of Manchester creating an iconic architectural style with modern developments featuring cutting edge designs and the highest specification interiors that have consistently raised the bar for city centre living in Manchester.’

Crosby Lend Lease was one of the first property developers to rebuild and redefine Manchester following the IRA bombing of 1996. The Company, then known as Crosby Homes, developed No.1 Deansgate which completely rebuilt the area around Deansgate that was most devastated by the bomb.

Throughout the last decade, Crosby Lend Lease has worked with Manchester City Council on a number of joint partnership projects that have provided the catalyst for regeneration. Such projects include the £50 million redevelopment of Smithfield Market which kickstarted Manchester’s vibrant Northern Quarter scene.

The Company’s most recent developments in the city; greenquarter and Potato Wharf have extended Manchester’s urban landscape to new areas and are continuing the regeneration of the city into the next decade.

Peter Vella comments:

‘Crosby Lend Lease has transformed acres of previously redundant wasteland into modern mixed use residential and commercial property and attractive public open space.’

‘We’re extremely proud of what we have achieved in Manchester over the last ten years and what we are striving to achieve with schemes like greenquarter and Potato Wharf.’

Like many house builders in the UK, this last year has been the toughest the Company has experienced in recent times. But the Crosby Lend Lease team is confident that the brand is well positioned to ride out the current climate as Peter Vella outlines:

‘The housing market is going through a difficult period at present and like many house builders we’ve had to respond by taking prudent measures in dealing with our stock. Through ‘Assist’, we are providing first time buyers and buy to let investors with bespoke incentive packages aimed at making it easier for them to purchase property in Manchester.’

‘Although our 10th year of building in Manchester has been our toughest, Crosby Lend Lease is looking far beyond the current climate. We have the tenacity and ability within the organisation, together with the continued strong support of the Lend Lease Corporation, which enables us to build for a bigger, more successful future.’

‘We’ve had a fantastic decade of developing some of Manchester’s most outstanding buildings and have set the standards for urban regeneration in the city. This ten year anniversary is our opportunity to shout about our success from the rooftops and we’re looking forward to continuing to deliver ground breaking development projects in Manchester for many more years to come.”
