AVerMedia, a leading provider of digital multimedia technology, has introduced its Windows 7 TV Starter Kit, a Microsoft-certified USB TV tuner that enables users to watch both standard and Freeview TV channels on Windows desktop PCs, laptops and netbooks.

With the AVerTV Hybrid Volar HX, Windows 7 users can simply plug the USB stick into their PC, connect their aerial to the stick and start watching TV in Windows Media Center, with no need to install additional software.

The AVerTV solution receives analogue and digital Freeview TV (DVB-T1), as well as FM stereo radio broadcasts. It lets users take full advantage of Windows Media Center features, including live TV pause and timer-based recording to the PC’s hard disk.

It also gives users full Freeview capabilities, with electronic programme guide (EPG), teletext, red button interactivity and picture-in-picture for multichannel viewing. The solution is HDTV H.264 / MPEG-2 live TV ready, and can take input from games consoles enabling the PC screen to be used as the game display, with excellent definition.

Rob Livings, AVerMedia Sales and Marketing Director: "Microsoft has made TV a key feature of Windows 7, and this Starter Kit makes watching and recording TV completely plug-and-play on any Windows 7 PC. AVerMedia co-developed the solution with Microsoft to give a completely seamless, hassle-free experience."

The AVerMedia solutions are certified as fully compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 and Vista, endorsing their reliability and ease of use. AVerMedia was the first company to offer a Freeview-approved USB TV tuner in the UK, which ensures its solutions deliver the features and simplicity users expect.

The solution is available from Dixons Online (www.dixons.co.uk), priced at £64.99.
