Buying Solutions awards Sprint ii IT framework agreement to SCC

Buying Solutions, in collaboration with HMRC, have procured a Pan-Government framework agreement for use by UK public sector bodies including, amongst others, Central Government Departments and their Agencies, Non Departmental Public Bodies; NHS bodies and Local Authorities.

Sprint ii is unique in offering a single supplier one-stop-shop for a wide range of ICT products & services. It is anticipated that SPRINT ii will fill a niche not covered by existing Buying Solutions ICT framework agreements, namely a quick route via a one-stop-shop.

The new Sprint ii framework agreement went live on 16th March 2010 and will run for four years, allowing the public sector to access IT products and services with the use of catalogue ordering, but not via further competition (as this is a single supplier framework agreement further competition is not necessary).

The products and services available under Sprint ii fall into four broad categories: Hardware; Software; Infrastructure (including Networks & Telecommunications); and Services.

Tracy Westall, SCC’s Director responsible for the Public Sector, said:

Although the company has played a role in Government procurement for several years, we are now the only UK technology company to have been awarded sole supplier framework agreement."

The Framework tendering system was originally set up to simplify Government procurement processes and make information on accredited ICT providers ( more accessible within its departments. A key driver of the framework agreement is not only to keep prices as low as possible but also to keep the procurement process itself cost-effective.
